13 weeks! It’s hard to believe, but there are only about 13 weeks left of this school year. With summer approaching so quickly pre-planning the summer activities for the little ones is a must! And we can’t forget about Spring Break- a week that is just days away!

Finding fun & engaging camps or activities is always a priority and Osceola Arts has quite a few options. We are excited to be bringing one of last year’s summer camps to Spring Break week. Osceola Rocks!, as it is so aptly titled, is a rock music camp for kids. It will be held during Osceola County’s Spring Break week, March 18 – 22. Campers will learn and practice guitar, bass, keyboard and drums while learning basic techniques, music theory, and the dynamics of playing in a group. The week will feature a final Rock Band showcase by the campers. If your kid has a talent for music or you just need a reason to help them get out all of their endless energy Osceola Rocks! is the perfect way for them to spend their Spring Break.

During the Summer, we will be providing fun and affordable summer camps beginning in June. The 2019 summer camp schedule includes nine different camps with focuses on visual arts, musical theatre, music and filmmaking. Camps are open to kids ages 6 – 14 and each camp has a unique theme that will allow campers to really be immersed in the world of the arts. Need before or after camp care? That is also available, upon request.
Our first summer camp, Shipwrecked, will be held June 3 – 7 and is a visual arts camp. Campers will work together to create projects with mermaids, treasure maps, and pirates for a swashbuckling art show in our galleries. Next on the schedule is Cinerama, a filmmaking camp from June 10 – 21. In this camp, kids will work together to write, storyboard, shoot, direct and star in their own movies that will be shown at a special movie screening at the end of camp! From June 24 – 28, a magical arts fusion camp is coming to Osceola Arts! During Hogwarts Headquarters campers will work on wands, owls, house crests and more. A Vocal Arts Intensive camp will also take place from June 24 – 28. Middle and High School students will practice classical, a cappella and contemporary vocal jazz pieces during this camp.

Our first musical theatre camp will be held July 8 – 19. In The Greatest Show campers will hone singing, acting, and dancing skills inspired by the movie phenomenon! Our Strings Intensive music camp will be held from July 15 – 26. This music camp will focus on the techniques and style of orchestral string music. The instructors will lead both beginner and intermediate level students towards a final performance at the end of the session.
Our next musical theatre camp, Poppins Showstoppers, will be held July 22 – August 2. Campers will practically perfect their singing, dancing and acting skills in the wonderful world of Mary Poppins! Our final camp, Game Show, is another art fusion camp. From August 5 – 9, the camper’s days will be filled with fun challenges, improv exercises and more, plus a family friendly game show LIVE at the end of camp!
We are also very excited to announce a NEW All Ages Summer Show! Open to ages 9-17, our Young Actors Company will present Disney’s Frozen Jr. Disney’s worldwide phenomenon is taking Broadway Junior by (snow)storm! This enchanting modern classic is based on the 2018 Broadway musical. Rehearsals will begin on July 15 and take place Monday – Friday evenings thru August 8. Performance dates include August 9-11. Your little actor can help us bring Elsa, Anna, and the magical land of Arendelle to life.
