February is the month of love, and Osceola is full of places to rekindle your flame. We’ve found the best of the best for your next date night (or day). From the usual restaurant, to thrilling experiences; we’ve covered the love bases, so you can just pack your date night bag, and head out for a love adventure.
FOR THE ADVENTURERS
Love on the Wild Side
There’s nothing more wild than Florida nature, except maybe your love for each other. If you are looking for a unique date destination, look no further than Shingle Creek, in Kissimmee. Receiving the presidential seal as one of “America’s Great Outdoors”, Shingle Creek is described as an “urban oasis at the headwaters of the Florida Everglades” by Osceola.org. Beginning in Orlando, Shingle Creek meanders 23 miles to Lake Tohopekaliga, along beautiful Florida wetland. You can experience this haven by foot or bicycle, but to get the full experience, we suggest taking the adventure by water.
Row, Row, Row Your Love Boat
If you own a kayak, chances are you’ve already experienced this Florida treasure. If not, take a visit to The Paddling Center, located at 4266 W. Vine Street in Kissimmee. Offering kayaks, canoes, and paddle boards; you’ll surely find what rows your boat here. Pack a lunch, and hit the water. With peaceful surroundings of tall cypress trees, and the chance to spot some of Florida’s wildlife, it’ll be the quiet retreat you were both needing.
Lasso Your Romance
Bring back those memories of when you first fell in love, with glamping. Yes; it’s a word! Glamping is camping in style, or – glamour camping. Enjoy nature’s wonders, under the stars, with your own fully-furnished, air-conditioned canvas tents at Westgate River Ranch in Lake Wales. These aren’t just any run-of-the-mill tents, either. They are set on platforms, with a mosquito-screened porch, ceiling fans, microwave, mini-fridge, your own private bathroom facility, and much more!
Although you may never want to leave your love-tent; there is so much to do at Westgate River Ranch, to get your adrenaline pumping. From a full-service marina, to mini-golfing; and everything in between. Take your turn on a zip-line, take your best shot at the trap and skeet range, or take a water adventure in a one-hour swamp buggy ride. And when you’re ready to cool down; grab a pole and head to the Kissimmee River for some relaxing fishing, or join the dinner hayride, spotting Florida wildlife along the way. Who said Disney is just for kids? With this much magic in our back yard, it’s a shame not to take advantage of it. Skip the Magic Kingdom, and head straight to Disney’s other less hyped parks; Hollywood Studios and Epcot. Both Epcot and Hollywood Studios offer an array of adult fun; shows, specialty dining, international flair, and so much more; with plenty of adrenaline-packed rides in tow.
The Magic of Hollywood
Start off at Hollywood Studios, and take your time. Many guests rush to an attraction, or shop. However, look around and you’ll see plenty of things to spark up a conversation with each other. Another great part about Hollywood Studios, is that you are bound to catch a comical street performer from the Citizens of Hollywood Cavalcade of Stars. Dressed to the 9’s from the days of Hollywood; these performers make you laugh, and bring the show right to you. Make sure to hit one of the many vendors, to pick up an adult beverage, many of which can change with the season, as you continue your hand-in-hand stroll through this magical place.
And for a thrill, make sure to hit up both the Rock ‘N’ Roller Coaster®, starting Aerosmith and the famous The Twilight Zone Tower of Terror™. That shared love of adrenaline will really make your heart pump for each other!
Dinner and a Stroll
Once you’ve indulged in the magic of Hollywood Studios, and your adrenaline fix, take the stroll to Epcot with your Park Hopper ticket. Although it’s more walking than taking the bus, a trail leads through Disney’s Boardwalk area from Hollywood Studios, which then connects to your next stop, Epcot. The Boardwalk area is a destination in itself, with shopping and scenery only Disney could create. The walk will really make for some great alone time, instead of waiting in bus lines with crowds of people. Who knows what you may see along the way, to create that romantic adventure!
Now, Epcot is truly a spot for couples. From the Boardwalk, you’ll head right into the famous World Showcase. There are so many options for drinking and dining, with plenty of seats to enjoy some private time. Just pick your favorite country, and you’ll be transported across the ocean, no passport or suitcases required. Each piece of the world offers several dining choices, each at a different level of price. Download the My Disney Experience App for your smart phone, and you can check out menus for each one. If you are thinking the sit-down experience is for you, than make sure to make reservations before your big day. Just like that, you have a dinner for two, a world away.
The walk around the World Showcase Lagoon will be a walk to remember. With so much around you, it’ll spark your imagination, and possibly some memories. Find a table, and grab an after-dinner drink, and continue your night before IllumiNations: Reflections of Earth, a marvelous fireworks display over the water. There is nothing more romantic than fireworks!
